Rowan is a popular native tree, valued for its attractive appearance, seasonal colour and excellent wildlife benefits. Clusters of white flowers appear in spring, followed by bright red berries in autumn that provide an important food source for birds. Its delicate foliage develops rich orange and red tones later in the year, adding interest to woodland, hedgerow and landscape planting schemes. Hardy and adaptable, Rowan performs well on a wide range of soils and is suitable for both rural and urban environments.
