Prunus padus, or Bird Cherry, is a stunning native woodland tree that truly comes alive in spring with drooping racemes of highly scented, almond-perfumed white flowers. These are followed by small, bitter black cherries that are highly prized by local bird populations. Unlike many other cherries, it thrives beautifully in damp or waterlogged soils.
