These are shipped as bare-root saplings, securely tied in bundles (example shown left). To ensure healthy growth, they are shipped without soil and will not arrive in leaf.

Sweet Chestnut is a large, long lived tree valued for both timber production and landscape planting. Its glossy green leaves provide attractive summer cover before turning rich golden brown in autumn. Mature trees produce edible chestnuts, while the flowers are an excellent source of nectar for pollinating insects. Sweet Chestnut grows best on well drained soils in full sun and is well suited to woodland creation, estates and parkland planting.
