The quintessential native Holly (Ilex aquifolium) is a robust, slow-growing evergreen that provides year-round structure, privacy, and security. Its glossy, dark green prickly leaves make an impenetrable barrier, whilst female plants produce iconic bright red berries in winter—a crucial lifeline for birds. It is highly tolerant of deep shade and poor soils.
Dig a hole twice the width of the roots. Backfill, firm gently, and water well.
